Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | The opportunity
The Head of School – Business Technologies will lead the strategic growth and success of the School of Business Technologies, driving industry partnerships, student outcomes and programme innovation.
Working closely with academic leaders and industry stakeholders, this role ensures our programmes remain future-focused, commercially sustainable and aligned with evolving workforce needs – positioning the school as a leading provider of career-ready business and technology education.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and execution of the School of Business Technologies’ strategic plan, driving growth and innovation
• Build and strengthen industry partnerships with employers, professional bodies and community organisations to enhance student outcomes and graduate employability
• Identify and develop new market opportunities, participate in research projects, commercial partnerships, funded projects and revenue streams that support organisational growth
• Ensure programmes remain relevant, future-focused and aligned with current and emerging industry trends and workforce needs
• Provide leadership and direction to academic and professional staff fostering a high-performing, collaborative and student-centred culture.
• Oversee operational performance, monitor quality and compliance including resource planning, staffing, budgeting and achievement of key business and academic objectives.
• Drive student recruitment, retention and success initiatives, supporting positive learner experiences and outcomes.
• Develop and lead the delivery of high-quality, industry-relevant programmes, collaborating with Tutors and Lecturers to ensure an engaging and effective learning experience.

Minimum Masters Degree in Business, Management, Technology, Innovation or a related discipline
- Strong Leadership experience in education, business, technology, innovation or a related sector
- Proven success in building and maintaining industry partnerships and stakeholder networks
- Sound understanding of the NZ Tertiary Education sector and processes

Strong business and commercial acumen, including strategic planning and performance management
- Previous leadership experience within NZ tertiary education setting (preferred but optional)
