About the role
We are seeking a detail‑focused People & Culture Coordinator to join our People & Culture team, with a strong emphasis on payroll processing and people administration.
In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the Law Society’s fortnightly payroll, including lay member payments, one‑off payments, and payroll reporting. Working in line with IRD and statutory requirements, you will ensure payroll processes are compliant, well‑managed, and delivered to a high standard.
Alongside payroll responsibilities, you will provide essential coordination and administrative support across a wide range of People & Culture activities, supporting employees and leaders throughout the full employee lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with systems and data, has excellent attention to detail, and takes pride in delivering a reliable payroll and a positive employee experience.
Our ideal applicant will have:
- Proven experience processing payroll
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working to tight payroll deadlines
- Experience in an HR or People & Culture coordination role (advantageous)
- Sound understanding of payroll‑related processes and compliance requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of computer literacy, particularly in payroll, HRIS and MS Office systems
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with the ability to escalate issues when required
- The ability to work autonomously and part of a collaborative team
