Job Mission:

The mission of the Global Logistics Coordinator is to optimise operational efficiency and manage expenditures for both international and domestic consignments at Spex. This role is focused on ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to the right location, while driving financial benefits for the company. By effectively coordinating logistics processes, the Global Logistics Coordinator plays a key role in enhancing cost-effectiveness and supporting Spex’s overall operational goals.

Accountabilities:

Cost Control

  • Control freight expenditure in line with budgeted spend (+/- 5%):
  • Aim to reduce Inbound and Outbound spend by 5% as a percentage of yearly sales value year on year

Operational Efficiency

  • Provide and manage 3PL partners through use of monthly performance reports, metrics and monthly meetings.

Data Integrity

  • Aspire for 100% accuracy in HS Codes and Country of Origin data for imports and exports (eliminates avoidable customs duty expenditure being incurred)

Responsibilities:

Cost Control

  • Influences cost control and financial efficiency by managing freight expenditure in line with budget expectations, negotiating with 3PL partners to reduce costs throughout the supply chain

Operational Efficiency

  • Influences the cost-effective and timely movement of goods by optimising purchase order consolidation to reduce freight costs and managing 3PL partner performance through regular reporting and meetings.

Subject Matter Expert

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all Spex personnel, ensuring prompt, accurate, and informed responses to all freight-related inquiries.

Collaboration

  • Optimise freight efficiency by working with Procurement to optimize purchase orders for efficient and cost-effective freight, ensure timely pickups with suppliers and 3PL partners and provide real-time shipment updates for warehouse planning.

Information Management

  • Maintain accurate transit updates in Odoo with 3PL coordination and ensure smooth importation through proper documentation management

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge

  • Understanding of freight and logistics operations, including both international and domestic consignments. Knowledge of customs regulations to minimise duty expenditures and ensure compliance. Familiar with budget management and techniques for controlling freight costs, as well as how to optimise purchase order consolidation and manage freight forwarder performance effectively.

Required Skills

  • Analytical thinking, organizational planning, and collaboration to optimize freight efficiency and reduce costs.

Required Experience

  • Two years’ experience in managing logistics operations, cost reduction, and maintaining data accuracy to ensure compliance. The ideal candidate should also be adept at negotiation and driving financial benefits through improved logistics processes.
