Description

Join MediMap as a Technical Product Owner and play a key role in driving our product forward. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in our Christchurch office in Middleton.

Role Purpose:

As Technical Product Owner at MediMap, you sit at the intersection of product, engineering, and delivery. Reporting to the Head of Product & Delivery, you work closely with them and the Software Development Manager to shape requirements and drive execution across a platform undergoing modernisation.

You translate product direction into clear, actionable work for the engineering team, ensuring delivery is aligned to business goals and executed efficiently. In doing so, you help ensure MediMap continues to deliver intuitive, effective, and commercially relevant medication management solutions across Australia and New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product & Backlog Ownership Translate product direction into clear, actionable work for the engineering team. Own and prioritise the backlog, ensuring user stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans are aligned to business goals and platform evolution.
  • Technical Collaboration & Delivery – Work closely with the Software Development Manager and engineering team to define approach, manage dependencies, and balance scope, speed, and quality. Support delivery across both legacy and modernising platforms.
  • Team Alignment & Workflow Management – Partner daily with development and test teams to remove ambiguity, maintain momentum, and ensure focus on high-value work. Own Jira workflows, backlog hygiene, and reporting to enable efficient, low-friction delivery.
  • Release & Delivery Coordination – Manage release planning, tracking, and execution, ensuring work is well-documented, traceable, and aligned to outcomes. Coordinate across teams to deliver platform updates, integrations, and improvements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to align on priorities, provide visibility on progress, and surface risks early to keep delivery on track.
  • Ways of Working, Risk & Compliance – Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment, while ensuring delivery aligns with privacy, security, and relevant regulatory requirements.

You’re a technically-minded Product Owner who turns product direction into clear, actionable work for engineering teams. You balance scope, speed, and quality, own backlog and workflow efficiency, and align delivery to business goals.

A pragmatic communicator, you collaborate across stakeholders, remove ambiguity, manage dependencies, and keep delivery on track in evolving environments.

Key Competencies

  • Product experience – Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in a software development environment.
  • Technical Understanding – Solid technical understanding (APIs, system design, integrations, software lifecycle) and familiarity with Agile and hybrid methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban)
  • Requirements Definition – Strong ability to break down complex product requirements into structured, deliverable work.
  • Technical Workflow Management – Experience working with Atlassian tools Jira for backlog management, workflow configuration, and release tracking & Confluence for documentation
  • Collaboration – Experience working with both technical and non-technical teams, Strong communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Delivery Coordination – Highly organised, detailed-oriented and focused on execution and proven ability to manage multiple product initiatives, releases or projects at the same time.
  • Legacy platform exposure – Experience working within evolving or legacy platforms undergoing modernisation
  • Adaptability – Highly flexible and adaptable, with the ability to navigate change and ambiguity while keeping outcomes on track.
