Data Analyst – Drive Data Insights at lawlab
The Opportunity
lawlab, a growing legal technology company based in Auckland, is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to support data-driven decision-making across the organisation. This role will involve analysing business operations, customer trends, and financial data to provide actionable insights and innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and strategic growth. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to ensure that data is effectively leveraged and maintained to support business objectives. This is a fixed contract of approximately 9 months.
This is a full-time position based in Auckland.
Key Responsibilities
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with senior management, legal professionals, and marketing teams to ensure data insights align with business priorities.
- Present complex data findings in a clear and actionable format for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Create clear and effective data visualisations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Gather and validate requirements for strategic projects to ensure data projects meet business needs.
Operational and Financial Data Analysis
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators to assess operational efficiency and support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with finance and sales teams to analyse revenue trends, client acquisition costs, and retention rates.
Data Reporting and Automation
- Design and implement interactive dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Automate data collection and reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the development of predictive models and AI-driven analytics to enhance data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
- Maintain data integrity, security, and accessibility.

Business and Customer Insights
- Analyse customer behaviour and engagement metrics to provide insights that support business strategy and client service improvements.
- Evaluate customer satisfaction and survey data to identify trends and areas for enhancement.
Marketing and Performance Analytics
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, providing data-driven recommendations for optimisation.
- Track content performance across digital platforms and provide insights to improve audience engagement.
Research, Knowledge Sharing and Emerging Technologies
- Research new methods, tools, and techniques to improve data science capabilities.
- Document processes and share knowledge to support team growth.
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies and assess their potential impact on projects.
Skills and Experience
Required
- Three to five years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and generate meaningful insights.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Excel, and business intelligence platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience with customer analytics, marketing performance tracking, and operational data analysis.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present insights to a diverse audience.
Advantageous
- Experience in AWS suite of tools (including CloudWatch, Glue, etc.) desirable.
- Knowledge of AI-driven analytics, automation, and predictive modelling is an advantage.
- Experience and knowledge of property industry desirable.
