About the Role

As a Team Lead, you will provide hands-on, day-to-day leadership to frontline kaimahi delivering services to tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.

You will be responsible for supporting your team to deliver high-quality, mana-enhancing services grounded in kaupapa Māori, while maintaining strong standards of practice, safety, performance and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, coaching, and support to frontline kaimahi, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
  • Oversee service delivery, caseloads and workload allocation across the team.
  • Maintain high standards of practice, documentation, safeguarding, and service quality, ensuring adherence to organisational policies.
  • Provide regular supervision and support the professional development and wellbeing of kaimahi.
  • Monitor team performance and contribute to the achievement of contractual KPIs and whānau outcomes.
  • Identify and escalate risks, safeguarding concerns, resourcing needs and performance issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with whānau, community organisations, statutory agencies and other partners.
  • Support recruitment, induction and onboarding of new kaimahi.
  • Use frontline insights and service data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Champion the voice of tamariki, rangatahi and whānau in practice and service delivery.
  • Model and uphold our mātāpono of Āta, Ākina and Angitū.

– Demonstrated experience in frontline leadership, senior practice, or team coordination within the social services or not-for-profit sector.

You will bring:

  • Experience in frontline leadership, senior practice or team coordination.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or strong equivalent experience.
  • Experience working alongside tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.
  • Strong knowledge of kaupapa Māori approaches and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
  • Confidence supporting and developing frontline kaimahi.
  • Sound judgement in relation to risk, safeguarding and escalation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk management frameworks and practical application in a frontline service setting.
  • Proficiency in utilising service data and insights for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A resilient, adaptable and solutions-focused approach to leadership.
