Description

Social Media & Community Content Coordinator | Capture Stories That Matter (Up to 20 hrs/week, Contract Role)

Contract role | Up to 20 hours per week | Remote | Flexible working arrangements

The stories we tell shape how communities understand support, prevention, and the realities facing tamariki and whānau.

At Kirikiriroa Family Services Trust (KFST), we are strengthening how our operational branch reflects our commitment to tamariki through Tamariki Tū Tamariki Ora (TTTO).

We know some of our most impactful mahi happens quietly. In homes. In communities. Alongside whānau.

We are looking for a Social Media & Community Content Coordinator to help bring those stories to life. This is not a traditional social media role.

The majority of your time will be spent capturing content, gathering stories, attending events, identifying moments of impact, and working alongside teams to showcase the mahi happening across our organisation.

Posting content is important — but it is the smaller part of this role.

Your focus will be finding, creating, and shaping meaningful content that reflects the voices of our communities and the kaupapa we stand for.

About the role

This role centres around:

• Capturing content across services, events, initiatives, and community activities • Identifying compelling stories that highlight impact, prevention, and whānau outcomes • Working closely with leadership and teams to gather accurate information and create meaningful narratives • Creating engaging content including photos, videos, captions, and community storytelling pieces • Translating complex or sensitive topics into accessible and respectful messaging • Maintaining a content calendar aligned with campaigns, awareness days, and organisational priorities • Publishing approved content across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn • Monitoring engagement and escalating sensitive enquiries where required • Tracking performance and identifying opportunities to strengthen reach and engagement

You will work closely with leadership to ensure content reflects organisational values, cultural safety, and ethical storytelling practices.

About you

You might come from communications, marketing, journalism, content creation, community engagement, or social media.

Most importantly, you know how to find stories that matter and tell them with heart.

You will bring:

• Experience creating content or managing social media accounts • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate with empathy and clarity • Confidence capturing photos, videos, and creating content in community settings • Understanding of confidentiality, ethics, and cultural sensitivity • Strong organisation and ability to manage competing priorities • Familiarity with scheduling platforms and social media tools • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with teams • Creativity balanced with professionalism and attention to detail

Experience within social services, Māori organisations, or community-based environments will be highly valued.

What we offer

• Contract role with flexible working arrangements • Up to 20 hours per week with flexibility around how hours are worked • Remote working opportunity • Opportunity to work alongside a kaupapa-driven organisation supporting tamariki and whānau • Ability to shape storytelling, visibility, and community engagement across a growing organisation • Diverse and meaningful content opportunities across services, events, and initiatives • Autonomy in your work while collaborating closely with leadership and teams • Opportunity to help elevate stories that strengthen awareness, advocacy, and outcomes for tamariki

Why this role matters

Social media is only part of this role.

This role is about capturing moments, elevating voices, documenting impact, and helping communities see the difference early support and prevention can make.

As we strengthen the visibility of Tamariki Tū Tamariki Ora, storytelling will play a critical role in ensuring the voices of tamariki and whānau remain at the centre.

If you are creative, compassionate, and passionate about meaningful storytelling, we would love to hear from you.
