The Role
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Supervisor to oversee daily operations on a council road maintenance contract. You’ll lead crews delivering routine and reactive maintenance, temporary traffic management, and minor construction works -ensuring all activities are completed
safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
This is a hands‑on leadership role with responsibility for coordinating field teams, managing subcontractors, monitoring performance, and maintaining strong relationships with Council representatives and the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise day‑to‑day maintenance activities across local road networks.
- Manage field crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance across all sites.
- Liaise professionally with Council staff, residents, and stakeholders.
- Maintain performance standards, respond promptly to service requests, and meet contract KPIs.
- Conduct site inspections, quality audits, and produce accurate reports using job management systems.
About You
You’re a practical, people‑focused leader who takes pride in delivering excellent results. You’ll bring:
- Supervisory experience in road maintenance (preferred) or civil contracts. Experienced maintenance Foreman looking for their next career step will be considered.
- Strong understanding of NZTA and Council maintenance standards.
- Experience with Thinkproject or RAMM systems
- Full Class 1 driver licence (Class 2 & WTR preferred)
- STMS qualifications or experience in Traffic Management preferred
- Proven ability to manage crews, budgets, and timelines effectively.
- Sound communication and problem‑solving skills, with a collaborative approach.
- Commitment to safety leadership and quality outcomes.
