The Role
Due to exciting growth, JAVLN is looking for a Senior Engineer with SaaS experience to join our Auckland-based team, to develop our cloud-based platform.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering an exciting roadmap of features that will enable JAVLN to scale its operations across ANZ and expand globally. You’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the core components of our Ruby-based SaaS platform, ensuring that our solutions are robust, scalable, and secure. Collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and engineers, you will help shape the future of our platform, driving innovation and excellence at every stage of the development process.
You’ll be working with a fun, committed team of engineers who value collaboration and excellence. Together, we follow the best practices of software development, including Unit Testing, CICD, AI-assisted tools, and carved-out time to work on “engineering excellence” – i.e. the things that make developers more productive, such as tech debt paydown, refactoring and improving the developer experience.

Role Requirements:
You should apply for this role if you have many, or most of the following:
- At least 5+ years of experience in the software industry in total as a software engineer, and currently operating as a Senior or Intermediate Engineer.
- Proficiency in Front-End technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and Front-End JS frameworks such as Vue.js, Angular or React.
- Previous experience with Ruby, or demonstrated ability to adapt to new languages quickly.
- Experience with modern software development practices, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing (Unit Tests, Integration Tests, End to End Tests).
- Experience with Playwright is an advantage.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Good understanding of software engineering principles, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
- Experience in software design with an understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud architectures.
- Any FinTech experience or experience in the insurance industry (InsurTech) would be desirable, but not essential if you are comfortable learning.
