DevOps Engineer – Staff Level

Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Level DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic Tech team in Grey Lynn, Auckland. This permanent, full-time position is crucial for enhancing our development and operational processes, ensuring seamless integration and deployment of applications. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving efficiency and innovation within our organisation, contributing to our commitment to delivering high-quality software solutions.

A core frontier for this role is leading the transformation of our deployment infrastructure by architecting and scaling modern CI/CD platforms designed specifically for agentic development pipelines.

You will be instrumental in integrating autonomous AI agents into the software development lifecycle (SDLC), enabling automated code reviews, self-healing deployment workflows, and intelligent threat remediation. While the primary skillset required is centered around AWS, JAVLN operates a multi-cloud environment, making any cross-functional experience with Azure highly ideal but not mandatory.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth integration of new features and updates.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain optimal uptime.
• Automate repetitive tasks to improve operational efficiency.
• Implement and manage cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability and security.
• Conduct regular system audits and performance tuning.
• Develop and maintain documentation for processes and systems.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in a DevOps role or similar position.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Terraform.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
