The Opportunity:
At Inovo, we’re a proud team of experienced people who enjoy working together to deliver complex projects for our clients. We take a professional, collaborative approach to everything we do and are trusted by our clients to lead some of New Zealand’s most interesting and challenging projects. Our strength comes from the depth of experience across the team and a culture that values good judgement, clear communication, and mutual respect.
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Christchurch team and take a lead role in the planning, procurement, and delivery of large‑scale projects across several sectors including but not limited to health, education and civil & infrastructure. This is a hands-on senior role for someone who enjoys owning outcomes, working closely with clients and delivery teams, and contributing positively to the culture of the project management team and the wider business.
You will be trusted to lead your projects, supported by experienced, approachable leaders and a team that backs and supports each other to do their best work. If you’re looking for meaningful projects, professional respect, and a place where experienced people are trusted to lead, this is an opportunity worth considering.
About you:
- You bring significant senior‑level experience (typically 10+ years) delivering complex, large‑scale projects in the commercial construction and consulting environment, with a
proven track record across varied sectors, clients, and delivery models.
- You thrive in a consulting environment, acting as a trusted advisor to clients, representing the business professionally, and building strong, long‑term relationships that support repeat work and business growth.
- You are confident owning end‑to‑end project delivery, from early feasibility and scope definition through to completion and close‑out, establishing fit‑for‑purpose governance, reporting, and delivery strategies aligned to the projects risk and complexity.
- You are an experienced leader of multi‑disciplinary teams, able to manage and coordinate design consultants, contractors, and delivery partners, and guide projects through procurement and delivery with clarity, confidence, and sound professional judgement.
- You bring strong commercial and contractual capability, with proven experience leading procurement processes, preparing and evaluating tenders, and overseeing contract preparation and administration, including contract instructions, variations, progress claims, and performance monitoring.
- You have Extensive contract Knowledge with experience operating as Engineers Representative/Contract Administration using the NZS 3910 (2013/2025) suite of contracts. Experience as an Engineer to the Contract/Independent Certifier is desirable but not
essential for this role.
- You are accountable for project financial performance, with the ability to manage budgets
through cost planning, forecasting, change control, with clear, accurate financial reporting.
- You communicate well and excel in relationship management, able to build trust across all levels of any organisation, chair complex multi‑stakeholder meetings, challenge thinking constructively, and resolve issues in a pragmatic and professional manner.
- You bring relevant qualifications and/or formal professional training aligned to senior project
management practice. Project Management Institute – PMP certification is desirable
but not essential.
- You hold New Zealand permanent residency or citizenship, which is essential
for this role.
