Senior/Associate Engineer (CPEng) – Land Development (Auckland)

We’re seeking a motivated Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) who brings strong technical experience, confident leadership, and a pragmatic, delivery‑focused mindset to every project.

The Opportunity:

This role is in our Auckland Land Development Team, where you’ll play a key role delivering complex projects and supporting the growth of people and capability within the team. You’ll work closely with engineers, planners, surveyors, project managers, clients, Council teams and add value to our clients and customers.

You will:

  • Lead land development projects independently, from feasibility through to design,construction and practical completion.
  • You will manage scope, programme, budgets and risk with support from our leadership team.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships and providing clear, pragmatic advice.
  • Confidently manage and coordinate multi‑disciplinary consultant teams, including planners, surveyors and specialist designers.
  • Provide technical leadership and decision‑making across design, consenting, access to property and construction‑phase activities.
  • Engage proactively with Councils and CCOs, navigating processes, responding tofeedback, and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Mentor and support engineers within the team, contributing to professionaldevelopment, coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Contributeto continuous improvement of systems, processes and team culture.

About You:

You are an experienced, people‑focused leader with strong technical capability and the confidence to take ownership of complex projects.

What you’ll bring:

  • People leadership and mentoring skills:Ability to support, guide and develop engineers while fostering a positive, collaborative team environment. Lead by example.
  • Strong project leadership capability: You will be comfortable managing clients, budgets, programmes and competing priorities.
  • Confidence dealing with Councils and CCOs: Experienced in leading technical discussions, resolving challenges and navigating public‑sector processes.
  • Excellent communication skills: Ability to prepare clear, formal written correspondence and translate technical concepts into plain language for clients, stakeholders and communities. Strong Technical Report Writing.
  • Sound judgement and problem‑solving: Ability to identify issues early, take ownership, manage risk, and drive practical solutions.

You will have:

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
  • Auckland Council Producer Statement Authorship (PSA) status.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in land development and/or infrastructure projects
  • Be well known and well connected in the Auckland Region.
  • Experience managing consultant teams and interfaces with contractors.
  • Experience leading small teams of engineers.
  • NZ ermanent residency or citizenship.
  • A full NZ driver licence.
