If you enjoy taking ownership of your work, contributing to project outcomes, and working collaboratively across disciplines, this role offers the chance to do exactly that.

About the role

In this role, you will be working with our national planning team and involved in the preparation, assessment and/or processing of resource consent applications across a variety of project types around the whole country. You will work closely with senior planners, project managers, engineers, surveyors and clients, gaining exposure to all stages of the planning and development process.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Preparing resource consent applications for a range of activities, including land use, subdivision, and take and discharge consents across both the North and South Island
  • Supporting projects under the Fast‑track Approvals Act
  • Assisting with planning advice, statutory assessments, and consent strategies
  • Engaging with councils, clients, consultants and other stakeholders
  • Contributing to high‑quality written planning reports and assessments

About you

We’re looking for a Planner who is keen to grow and who enjoys being actively involved in projects. You will likely have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a planning consultancy, local authority, or similar environment
  • relevant planning qualification recognised by NZPI
  • A sound working knowledge of the Resource Management Act, related legislation, and planning processes
  • Experience preparing and/or assessing resource consent applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging with clients and project teams
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a team environment
  • A practical, solution‑focused approach to planning challenges
  • A good understanding of spatial concepts and the ability to read engineering, surveying and architectural plans
  • A requirement is that you are New Zealand/Australian Citizen or you have Permanent NZ Residency.

It would be an advantage if you also have experience with Council processing, preparing consent applications, and fast track applications.
