About the Role:

The Dealer Business Manager plays a pivotal role in building, managing, and growing strong partnerships across GWM New Zealand’s authorised dealership network. This role is responsible for driving sales performance, optimising dealer profitability, and ensuring alignment with GWM standards, policies, and customer experience expectations. Acting as the primary liaison between GWM and its dealers, the DBM provides strategic, commercial, and operational support to help dealerships achieve sustainable growth. The role also delivers market insights, performance reporting, and recommendations to senior leadership to support informed decision‑making and network development. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with authorised dealerships as the primary point of contact. 
  • Implement GWM strategies, programs, and initiatives across the dealer network to drive alignment and performance. 
  • Monitor and analyse dealership sales performance against targets, identifying risks and growth opportunities. 
  • Partner with dealers to develop and execute strategies that drive vehicle, accessory, and wholesale performance. 
  • Review dealer financial performance to assess profitability, cash flow, and overall business health. 
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and sustainable revenue growth within dealerships. 
  • Monitor customer satisfaction (CSI) performance and drive initiatives to enhance dealer CX outcomes. 
  • Ensure dealerships comply with GWM standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Conduct audits and provide clear, actionable feedback to support continuous improvement. 
  • Analysis and identify Primary Market Area performance and opportunities. Identify partners to address these opportunities. 
  • Support dealer onboarding, development, and network growth aligned with market potential and brand strategy. 
  • Analyse market conditions, competitor activity, and customer trends to inform dealer and network strategy. 
  • Provide structured reporting and actionable insights to senior leadership to support decision‑making. 

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Automotive Management, or a related field is highly regarded but not a requirement.  
  • Sound knowledge of the automotive industry and understanding of dealership sales operations (ideally minimum 5 years’ experience) 
  • Previous experience working independently within a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills  
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities 
  • Passion to identify and drive continuous process improvements. 
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and dealer needs. 
  • Ability to build relationships across New Zealand and Australia
