We’re now looking for an experienced and capable Intermediate Project Manager to lead the delivery of client-side projects and provide guidance and support across our wider team.

About the Role

The Intermediate Project Manager plays a key role in leading the successful delivery of our clients’ projects. Working closely with our Directors, Team Leads/Project Directors and wider team, you’ll take ownership of project outcomes, manage client relationships directly, and help guide less experienced members of the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of client-side projects across construction and property, from initiation through to completion
  • Manage relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and stakeholders, acting as the primary point of contact
  • Develop and manage project plans, programmes, budgets and risk registers
  • Chair project meetings and prepare progress reports for clients and senior stakeholders
  • Lead procurement processes, including tender documentation, tender evaluation panels and contractor/supplier selection
  • Manage project risks and issues, escalating to Directors where required
  • Administer contracts (e.g. NZS 3910) as Contract Administrator/Engineer to the Contract, including certifying payments, managing RFIs and variations
  • Manage project budgets and financial reporting, including forecasting and cost control
  • Lead Health & Safety practices across your project portfolio
  • Mentor and support Project Administrators and Project Coordinators
  • Develop and maintain project programmes in MS Project / Procore
  • Contribute to Scope’s business development, including preparing tenders and proposals for new work
  • Champion the company’s project software, including Procore, Workbench and MS Project
  • Provide senior cover and support to other Project Managers as required
  • Prepare project close-out documentation including collection of warranties, manuals and handover documents.
  • Assist with Ministry of Education long term documentation i.e. 10YPPs

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience in project management, ideally within a client-side consultancy, construction or property environment
  • Experience in government sector work and public sector procurement processes is highly desirable
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, programmes and contracts (e.g. NZS 3910 or equivalent)
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including presenting to clients and senior stakeholders
  • Sound commercial and financial acumen
  • High proficiency in Microsoft 365 and project management software (MS Project, Procore, Workbench)
  • Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline is highly desirable
  • Project management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, etc.) is highly desirable
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to lead and make decisions
