Description

We’re looking for an Fabricator/Welder to keep our contracting fleet, stockfeed plant, and dairy goat farm running safely, reliably, and at their best. If you believe good work speaks for itself and you’d rather be fixing something than talking about fixing something, read on.

Who we are — and who we’re looking for

Everything we do at GAVINS comes back to three things:

Get Stuck In. We come to work prepared. We work with energy and purpose, and bring a can-do attitude to whatever the day throws at us.

Raise the Bar. We set high standards – for our workmanship, our safety, and the way we look for better every day.

In It Together. We work as a team. We look for the best in the people around us and show up when it matters most.

What you’ll be doing

Working across our contracting fleet, stockfeed mill, and dairy goat farm, no two days look the same. You’ll be:

  • Welding and fabricating components and structures from mild steel, stainless, and alloy — working from drawings, sketches, or a worn-out part
  • Cutting, profiling, fitting up, and finishing to a high standard
  • Modifying and commissioning machinery improvements, and building one-off solutions to practical problems
  • Carrying out repairs and reinforcement on plant and equipment across the group
  • Managing your own workflow, materials, and parts requirements across changing priorities
  • Providing technical support to operational teams and jumping in during peak periods when the business needs it

The person we’re after

You’re a skilled fabricator and welder who takes genuine pride in quality workmanship — confident across MIG, TIG, and stick, comfortable reading drawings, and able to build sound, well-finished work from scratch. Trade-qualified (or equivalent experience) preferred, and a recognised welding certification is a bonus.

You understand that being a team player matters as much as what you know. You don’t need to be perfect, but you need to care about doing things right.

Work eligibility

You must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand to be considered for this role. We are not able to offer visa sponsorship.
