Description

Garage Project is a brewery based in Wellington, NZ, known for making unique and beautiful beers. We’re a team of fun-loving, dedicated and hardworking crew who aspire to be leaders, never followers, in our industry. We’ve grown from humble beginnings to now a team of 65+ across NZ and Australia and we have some exciting adventures ahead.

We’re on the lookout for a Packaging Operator to join the team at Aro Valley site, to help us bring our brews to life in cans and bottles with precision, efficiency, and care.

About the Role

Reporting to the Packaging Manager, this is a hands-on role where you’ll lead by example, ensuring packaging operations run smoothly, maintaining equipment, and working closely with our production, logistics, and quality teams. As a Packaging Operator, you’ll be at the heart of our production process, helping oversee the packaging of our beer to ensure it meets the highest standards. Your focus will be on efficiency, quality, and sustainability—transforming liquid gold into a sellable, finished product.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Packaging Excellence: Oversee pack runs, set up and maintain packaging equipment, and ensure smooth operation of canning and bottling processes.
  • Quality Control: Maintain rigorous quality standards, monitor dissolved oxygen levels, and track finished goods.
  • Efficiency & Waste Reduction: Minimise beer, time, and material waste while ensuring maximum production output.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Champion a proactive approach to machine maintenance, reducing breakdowns and downtime.
  • Logistics & Inventory: Coordinate packaging material deliveries and manage stock levels efficiently

What we’re looking for

* Strong understanding of engineering and machinery operation.

* Solid computer skills

* Demonstrated leadership ability with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

* Organisational and planning skills

* A current, clean driver’s license and forklift license

Critical to the ongoing success of Garage Project is the tight crew of energetic, knowledgeable and downright friendly humans. We value contribution across different roles and invite everyone to bring their whole selves to work. We’re a Living Wage employer, Pride pledge participants and Carbon Zero certified.
