Description

Are you an HR Advisor ready to take the next step in your career? We’re looking for a motivated, people-focused HR professional to join our small but impactful People & Culture team as a People Partner.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with HR advisory experience who’s ready to broaden their scope, take on more ownership, and grow into a true generalist role — with support from an experienced team around you.

You’ll work closely with leaders across the Institution, building your confidence and capability across the full employee lifecycle. If you’re looking to make an impact to shaping culture, engagement, and contributing to delivering on our people strategy, this could be the perfect next move.

About the Role

As a People Partner, you’ll be a trusted point of contact for leaders and employees responsible for the end-to-end people cycle from first contact through to exit. You will be providing day-to-day guidance while utilising and applying your skills across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance, learning and development, health & safety and culture and engagement.

You’ll also get the chance to contribute to improving our people processes, policies, and systems — with mentorship and guidance from senior colleagues as you grow into the role.

Every day is different – one day you might be supporting a leader in an interview and the next, you’re helping refine an onboarding process or organising a team event.

This position is a full-time permanent role primarily based at our Auckland City Campus. However, there will be a requirement to travel to our other campuses across Auckland as required.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding — Take ownership of recruitment and onboarding, from position descriptions and job ads through to offers, contracts, and a great first-day experience.
  • HR Administration, Exits & Reporting — Maintain accurate HRIS records, support offboarding and exit interviews, help produce monthly reporting, and build your skills as a super user of our HR system.
  • Health, Safety & Wellbeing — Be an active member of the H & S Committee promoting a proactive safety culture and supporting with closing off hazard and incident reporting.
  • Culture, Engagement & Inclusion — Help bring our values to life through working closely with the Social Committee to develop and organise staff events throughout the year.
  • Performance Management — Help champion our performance review cycle and support a high-performance culture.
  • Talent, Learning & Capability Development — Work alongside leaders to spot development needs with the development of the annual training plan.
  • People Initiatives & Projects — Support with the rollout of our people initiatives that boost engagement, wellbeing, and retention, and help keep our policies fit for purpose.

What We’re Looking For

  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Experience in an HR Advisor or similar role, with a genuine interest in stepping up into a broader generalist position responsible for the full employee cycle
  • A foundational understanding of New Zealand employment legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (or a willingness to build this knowledge quickly)
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence to support and coach leaders as you grow into the role
  • Exposure to HRIS platforms (Employment Hero is an advantage) and a keen, analytical approach to data and reporting
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing priorities with responsibility for the end-to-end people cycle
  • Ability to coordinate and lead after-work staff events (approximately bi-monthly) and two Saturdays a year for our Whānau Days is a requirement of this role
