About the role

We are seeking an experienced Forest Manager to join our team in Napier, Hawkes Bay. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the efficient and effective management of our forestry management operations. This is a full-time position that requires strong communication skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to health and safety.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and implement forestry plans to meet production targets and ensure optimal utilisation of forestry resources
  • Manage and coordinate crews, including monitoring performance, providing guidance and training, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols
  • Liaise with landowners, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless coordination of forestry activities
  • Monitored and analyse data to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions
  • Ensure that all forestry operations are conducted in compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and the company’s policies and procedures
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the sustainability of our forestry operations

What we’re looking for

  • Experience (3+ years) in a similar role within the forestry or horticulture industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in forestry operations, including the use of specialised equipment and machinery
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proficient in data analysis and the use of relevant software and technology to support decision-making
  • Commitment to health and safety, with a proven track record of implementing and maintaining robust safety protocols
