Fiordland Lobster Company is looking for a reliable and hardworking Depot Assistant to support the Depot Manager with all landings from wharf-to-depot and loadouts from depot-to-transport vehicles.

About the Role:

This is a part-time (40 hrs per fortnight – variable hours) depot assistant role located in Jackson Bay. You’ll play an essential part in helping us deliver our world-class product to markets locally and globally.

Key Responsibilities:

Tally

  • Landings Weighing
  • Tally consumables and maintain inventory records
  • Crate transfer Scanning
  • Tally consumables

Water Quality

  • Daily water testing
  • Weekly Nitrite Testing
  • Monthly Nitrate Testing
  • Maintain adequate raw materials inventory and initiate ordering processes
  • Escalation of results when out of parameters
  • Maintaining adequate raw materials inventory and ordering

Stock Management

  • Biweekly Stocktake
  • Monthly Stocktake
  • Maintaining crate inventory against agreed minimum levels

Housekeeping

  • Ensuring Daily cleaning activities are completed and logged in to database
  • External Premises are maintained to agreed level of standards for a lobster processing facility
  • Vermin Controls are managed in accordance with agreed requirements 

General

  • Consumables ordering
  • Finance and Administration queries
  • Supporting the Depot Manager and duties in leave situations
  • Supporting issues resolution of fishers

What We’re Looking For:

  • Available to work public holidays and weekends (essential)
  • A clean and full NZ driver’s licence
  • Physically fit and able to work on your feet for extended periods
  • Previous experience in a factory or logistics role is advantageous, but comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Understanding of basic health and safety principles within a food processing environment.
  • Punctual, reliable, and safety-conscious
  • Previous experience in a factory role is an advantage, but complete training will be provided
