About the Role
Sales and Partnerships at Fat Zebra play a critical role in driving our growth across the region. This role is focused on expanding and strengthening our presence in New Zealand by managing a strategic banking relationship while also identifying new business opportunities across the market.
The role will take ownership of a key financial services relationship, working closely with their internal sales and executive teams to support growth initiatives, strengthen commercial engagement, and ensure successful outcomes for both organisations.
Alongside this core responsibility, the role will also focus on direct business development across the New Zealand market. You’ll identify and pursue new opportunities, build relationships with key stakeholders, and guide prospective customers through the sales process.
Given the complexity of payments and the evolving needs of merchants, you’ll need to be consultative and technically capable, helping customers understand how modern payment infrastructure can support their growth and operational needs.
This is a fully remote role based in Auckland or Wellington, working closely with Fat Zebra’s broader team in Australia. It suits a self-motivated and experienced payments professional who thrives in a high-autonomy environment.
Key Responsibilities include
Fat Zebra’s Business Development Manager will have several key areas of responsibility and will also be accountable for key performance indicators (KPIs) across the business.
- Account management of a strategic banking partner, supporting their sales teams and executive engagement.
- Act as a trusted commercial and strategic partner, strengthening collaboration between Fat Zebra and the Bank.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the New Zealand market.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop solutions using the full suite of Fat Zebra products and services.
- Support partner-led opportunities through technical and commercial discussions with merchants and platforms.
- Present strategic business cases internally to support new features, investment, partnerships, and commercial proposals.
- Represent Fat Zebra within the NZ payments ecosystem, building relationships across merchants, partners, and industry stakeholder

- Experience that will support you could include
- Experience working with payment gateways, acquiring banks, or payment infrastructure providers
- Experience managing strategic partnerships or financial services relationships.
- A strong network within the New Zealand payments or ecommerce ecosystem
