Description

About Enlighten Designs

We’re an award-winning data and software agency, one of New Zealand’s leading Microsoft Partners, and proudly at the forefront of AI-enabled delivery.

With 25+ years behind us and the energy of a start-up, we combine deep technical capability with a genuinely people-first culture. We care about doing great work, building strong relationships, and creating an environment where talented humans can thrive.

We’re growing, and we’re looking for a Casual Test Analyst (Tester) to join our team and gain real-world experience working on meaningful digital products.

The Role

This is a casual, flexible role ideal for a student studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

You’ll work alongside experienced developers, designers, and project teams to help ensure the quality of the software we deliver to clients. You won’t be left on your own, we’ll teach you how to write great test cases, log high-quality bugs, and think like a tester.

This is a hands-on opportunity to build practical industry skills while contributing to real client projects across web, mobile, and data platforms.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing test cases from user stories and requirements
  • Executing manual functional testing across web, mobile, and data solutions
  • Identifying, documenting, and reporting defects clearly (including steps to reproduce and expected vs. actual results)
  • Verifying bug fixes and performing regression testing
  • Learning how to triage and prioritise defects for development teams
  • Communicating closely with developers and project teams
  • Helping build and maintain project test suites to company standards

You’ll develop the ability to think critically about how software can fail, and how to prioritise what matters most.

What We’re Looking For

We’re less focused on years of experience and more interested in mindset and potential.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have interest in AI-enabled applications
  • Have strong attention to detail
  • Can read and understand requirements or user stories
  • Think critically about edge cases and failure scenarios
  • Communicate clearly and confidently
  • Are comfortable asking questions and learning on the fly
  • Are organised and able to prioritise work

Bonus (but not required):

  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum (even from coursework)
  • Exposure to Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar tools
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, or test cases

Why This Role Is Great for Students

  • Real industry experience working on live projects
  • Mentorship from experienced software professionals
  • Flexible hours to work around study
  • Exposure to modern development practices and tools

As a casual role, hours will vary week to week depending on project demand. Some weeks may be busier than others, and some weeks there may be little to no work available.
