Elecnor is seeking a Grid Connection Engineer to join our Engineering team in Brisbane. This role supports the delivery of grid connection activities for renewable energy projects across the NEM and New Zealand Electricity Market.
Working under the Grid Connection Manager, you will assist with the design, construction, commissioning, and compliance of generator interconnection facilities, ensuring alignment with relevant standards, GPS requirements, and project specifications.
You will support key project milestones including technical documentation, commissioning activities, model validation, and ongoing compliance monitoring, while working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
This role offers exposure to large-scale renewable energy projects and is ideal for a graduate or junior engineer with a basic understanding of power systems and a strong desire to develop within the industry.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Grid Connection Manager with technical risk identification and solution development
- Support coordination with consultants and track deliverables for quality and schedule complianc
- Provide engineering support across design, construction, commissioning, and O&M activities
- Assist with grid compliance deliverables (R1/R2), model validation, and handover documentation
- Monitor progress of design subcontractors and grid consultants to ensure timely delivery
- Review equipment specifications and design documents for grid code and GPS compliance
- Support review and management of design changes during construction and permitting compliance
- Assist technical review of calculations, reports, and design outputs to identify errors
- Conduct supervised site visits to monitor progress and verify design compliance
- Prepare technical reports, updates, and documentation using Microsoft Office tools
- Support continuous improvement through research into technologies and design standards
- Assist QA activities including inspections, documentation control, and lessons learned
- Provide general technical and administrative support to engineering and grid teams
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Australian work rights
- Driver’s licence
- White Card (CPCWHS1001)
- Exposure to PSS/E, PSCAD, or PowerFactory desirable
- Understanding of HV substations and renewable projects (Solar, Wind, BESS) advantageous
- Knowledge of NEM/NZ grid connection processes beneficial
- AutoCAD and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Awareness of grid compliance, quality, and safety standards
