About Us
We’re a New Zealand company helping governments around the
world modernise their tax systems. Our clients span South America, the
Caribbean, the Pacific and Europe. We’re proud to contribute to public sector
reform and align our technology with our clients’ visions.
We’re a family friendly workplace that celebrates diversity
and encourages you to bring your whole self to work. Because our clients are
located worldwide, we look for team players who are open to learning about
different cultures and experiencing different approaches to work.
About the role
This role doesn’t initially carry direct reports, though
that may grow over time. What it does carry from day one is real guidance
across our Engineering, Implementation and Support teams – shaping not just how
they work with AI day to day, but what the product looks like and how we
deliver it. Technical teams will look to you as the person who has already
solved the problem they’re about to hit.
You’ll set the direction for AI assisted development within
Implementation team, with strong engagement expected across the broader DT team
too. That means building the tools engineers actually reach for, covering
everything from code generation patterns to test libraries and automation
scripts. Your credibility comes from demonstrated craft on real delivery work,
and squads adopting what you build because it earns its place, not because it
was handed down.
You’ll own CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and
environment management standards. Pipelines and deployment standards are the
one area of the role where what you ratify becomes mandatory. Everywhere else,
you work on a pull model: building tools good enough that squads come looking
for them.
What you’ll bring
- Genuine hands-on experience using AI tooling in
real, production engineering work, not just exposure to it.
- A track record of building tools other engineers
adopt and knowing when to retire the ones that don’t earn their place.
- Strong technical credibility that lets you
influence Engineering Leads and Quality Leads without formal authority over
them.
- A quality mindset, you care about test coverage
and code quality holding up as tools and adoption scale.
- Comfort owning standards where they need to be
mandatory, and comfort letting go of control everywhere else.
- Knowing when tools have reached the scale and
maturity to hand off to Product Engineering.
Why work with us?
Yes, the work is interesting and meaningful, but our culture
is what truly sets us apart.
We’re collaborative, down to earth and inclusive. You’ll be
part of a team that cares about quality and cares about each other. Whether
it’s brainstorming over coffee, dragon boating or afterhours board games, we
enjoy what we do and appreciate who we do it with.
We celebrate individuality and diverse perspectives. You’ll
be supported to be yourself and bring your strengths to the table, while
working with clients around the world and growing your experience beyond New
Zealand. You’ll also work with modern AI tools as part of how we build software
day to day, and benefit from regular events like hack days and wellness
benefits, with the time and space to keep learning and look after your
wellbeing.
