💰 Salary:  $114,000 – $145,600 FTE (depending on experience)

Coastal Medical Limited (CML) is a growing multi-site primary healthcare organisation serving communities across Taranaki. Our focus is delivering innovative, integrated, and patient-centred care while supporting the wellbeing of our workforce and communities. We are seeking Extended Care Paramedics (ECPs) to join our multidisciplinary clinical teams across our practices. This is an exciting opportunity to use your advanced clinical skills in a primary care setting, providing acute, same-day, and extended care to patients in the community. You will work both independently and collaboratively with GPs, Nurse Practitioners, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assess, treat, and support patients.

🩺About the Role

As an Extended Care Paramedic, you will play a key role in providing care within the general practice environment, helping ensure patients receive timely treatment and avoid unnecessary hospital visits.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing clinical assessment, treatment, and triage for patients requiring acute care
  • Managing same-day and unscheduled primary care presentations
  • Performing clinical procedures such as IV cannulation, wound management, and medication administration
  • Delivering phone consultations and follow-up care
  • Supporting patients recently discharged from hospital to reduce re-admission risk
  • Collaborating with the wider clinical team and referring patients where appropriate
  • Participating in health promotion, screening programmes, and quality improvement initiatives

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and a passion for patient-centred care.

Essential:

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Health Science – Extended Care Paramedicine (or equivalent)
  • Specialist Paramedic Practice Endorsement
  • Current registration with the Paramedic Council of New Zealand
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
