We are seeking a highly motivated Business Advisor to join our team at Business Canterbury. Reporting to the RBP Lead, you will be based at our modern office at 57 Kilmore Street, Christchurch. 

In this pivotal role, you will deliver the Regional Business Partner (RBP) programme. This programme, delivers tailored support to the Canterbury business community, supporting businesses to start, scale and embed themselves with the New Zealand ecosystem.. 

The role will involve: 

  • Assessing businesses and providing services to meet their identified needs. 
  • Delivering tailored support through strategic account management, ecosystem navigation, and government-funded programmes. 
  • Managing a Frontier Venture portfolio to ensure customers are actively engaging with Innovation Service products. 
  • Building collaborative relationships with government and non-government organisations to offer business assistance programmes. 
  • Actively promoting the role and functions of the RBP Network across local networks and business events. 
  • Developing engagement plans and assessing opportunities to support research and development skills. 

We are looking for someone with: 

  • Five plus years of proven experience in business management, which could include experience as a consultant, advisor, business owner, or senior business officer. 
  • Strong commercial business acumen and comprehensive knowledge of the local and regional economy. 
  • The ability to analyse business capability and research and development needs to offer solutions that help clients grow. 
  • A client-focussed attitude with proven relationship-building skills. 
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, enabling you to relate to people across all levels. 
  • Intermediate to advanced technical skills, specifically in database input, data extraction, and the Microsoft Suite. 
  • A highly organised, self-directed approach combined with resilience to adapt to a dynamic business environment.
