Description

We’re looking for a capable infrastructure professional to take ownership of a live Ruapehu District Council contract – leading delivery, managing contractors, and building strong client relationships on the ground.

This is a hands-on Contract Manager role where you’ll work at the centre of Council, contractor, and consulting teams to deliver real infrastructure outcomes across the district.

What You’ll Be Doing

·       Lead delivery of a Council infrastructure contract

·       Manage contractor performance, programmes, and budgets

·       Build strong relationships with Council, contractors, and partners

·       Oversee procurement, contract administration, and reporting

·       Maintain a regular on-site presence to keep delivery on track

·       Administer contracts including procurement, performance monitoring, and payment processes

ABOUT YOU

·       5–10+ years in infrastructure delivery, contract management, or project/programme management

·       Experience working with Councils or infrastructure clients preferred

·       Strong understanding of civil infrastructure (roading, three waters, or similar)

·       Capability in Road Asset Maintenance and Management is an advantage.

·       Familiarity with NZTA/Waka Kotahi processes or similar frameworks desirable

·       Confident managing budgets, contracts, and delivery outcomes

·       A practical, hands-on approach with strong stakeholder skills

LOCATION / WORKING ARRANGEMENT

·       Regular presence in the Taumarunui office is required

·       Based in or able to regularly travel to Taumarunui (Short term / mid-week accommodation available at office)

·       Flexible arrangement (e.g. structured on-site days) to suit the right candidate
