FTC for 6 months with the opportunity to extend or go Permanent for the right candidate 

The Role

As our new Leading Hand in Tauranga, you’ll be the on-site engine room for daily operations, keeping the site safe, organised, compliant, and delivering to BMC’s high standards. You’ll sit between the Site Manager and the crew, directing daily work, coordinating subcontractors, and resolving problems before they cause delays.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Run daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and site inductions
  • Direct and sequence trades and subcontractors to keep the programme on track
  • Manage materials end-to-end and oversee QA process
  • Complete daily site diaries and report to the Site Manager
  • Lead H&S — pre-starts, hazard board, incident reporting, 100% compliance
  • Support crew and apprentices, building a positive, high-performing team culture

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Site Supervisor, or similar, 5+ years on tools
  • Trade qualification and experience leading crews of 3–10 people
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail
  • Current Site Safe passport (or prepared to obtain) and full driver’s licence — essential
  • Comfortable with digital site platforms (Range, iAuditor, Procore, or similar)
