The Opportunity
We are currently seeking Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses with New Zealand experience across our Theatre specialties, in particular: General surgery, Urology, Plastics, Gynaecology, Spine, Orthopaedics, Cardiothoracic, Vascular and ENT/Maxillofacial.
Working in the Theatre department and reporting to the Clinical Nurse Lead, the Registered / Enrolled Nurse – Theatre is responsible for scrubbing and circulating for a variety of surgeries as well as assisting for surgery. Overall, our surgical procedures include Cardiothoracic surgery, Orthopaedics, Spinal, General and Paediatrics, Urology, Plastics, Maxillofacial, ENT and Dental, Vascular and Gynaecology.
It is an exciting time as our Theatre Services team is embedding a new leadership model and we recently introduced leading-edge surgical technology to the Waikato community in the form of the da
Vinci Xi surgical robot. This is now regularly used in general, gynaecology and urological procedures.
To be successful in this role you will:
• have experience as a Registered / Enrolled Nurse in Theatre, specifically one of our focus specialties in a New Zealand setting (preferred). We will also consider candidates with a demonstrated passion for learning and ongoing improvement of both self and department, with particular interest in those who wish to represent and participate in our Infection Prevention and Control and Health and Safety Committees, and/or who have an ability to drive quality initiatives.
• understand that the key to success lies in our team operating in collaboration with one another: you will have the ability and disposition to enhance cooperation and teamwork;
• be known for your clear and professional communication skills and your ability to remain calm and collected in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment;
• have a current New Zealand Nursing Registration and valid APC.
