The Role

We are seeking an Engineer or Technical Officer to join our Perth Bridges team in a role focused on the planning and delivery of bridge and infrastructure asset inspections. The role offers a mix of field-based inspection work, project planning and technical reporting, and will suit a motivated individual with broad capabilities and an interest in condition assessment and asset management.

  • Conduct detailed structural inspections and on-site condition assessments of bridges and other infrastructure assets for a variety of private asset owners, contractors, and state government agencies.
  • Prepare inspection reports and associated structural assessment documentation within project timeframes and budgets.
  • Assist senior team members with the preparation of project proposals and managing small projects.
  • Assist with project development and planning, including inspection programs, access techniques, inspection methodologies, safety planning, and travel and accommodation requirements.
  • Operate access equipment such as elevated work platforms where required.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors to organise traffic management, rail protection/access and specialist access providers.

About You

You are an Engineer or Technical Officer with strong interest and demonstrated capability in bridge or structures asset inspections. You bring sound judgement and an ability to work both independently and in teams across a variety of projects to deliver high-quality project outcomes.

  • Engineering Degree or Advanced Diploma and relevant experience relating to Bridge or Infrastructure Asset Inspections.
  • Main Roads WA Level 2 Bridge Inspection accreditation, ARRB Level 2 accreditation or similar formal training is highly desirable.
  • Must hold a current “C” class driver’s licence.
  • Working at Heights, High Risk Licence (WP), Construction White Card, First Aid Certificate and other related training certificates are desirable (relevant training will be provided).
  • Attention to detail with well-developed report writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Flexibility to travel and work remotely as required on some projects.
  • Ability to adapt to varying work environments from extended office based project planning and reporting activities through to remote field works.
  • Willingness to undertake night shift works, working at heights, working in hot, cold, wet weather, along with a preparedness to ‘get your hands dirty’ as required.
