ASSISTANT RESTAURANT MANAGER – HUKA LODGE – TAUPO

As part of our commitment to internal development and career progression, an exciting opportunity has opened for an Assistant Restaurant Manager to join the Huka Lodge team.
Dining at Huka Lodge – guests’ gather to make each other’s acquaintance, share stories of their day and enjoy the superb cuisine.
You will assist the Restaurant Manager in managing and overseeing the operation of the restaurant and bar. Responsible for delivering and maintaining the highest quality food and beverage service from the team, as per our Lodge standards, in an efficient and friendly manner for our discerning guests. This hands-on position will ensure that the operations in the restaurant and bar run smoothly through breakfast, lunch and dinner services.
The Role

- Deliver a relaxed yet stylish dining experience with a strong focus on guest satisfaction
- Train, develop and inspire the Food & Beverage team to consistently high service standards
- Manage effective rostering, payroll and labour costs in line with service and budget requirements
- Maintain strong food and beverage knowledge with a genuine passion for local produce and wine
- Oversee smooth day-to-day service, ensuring compliance with service standards and licensing requirements
- Work closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure efficient and seamless operations
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in a food and beverage leadership role within a premium establishment
- An understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
- Efficient and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Exceptional leadership and negotiation skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and manage own time
- Strong understanding of labour costs and productivity to prepare forecasts and rosters, reviewing daily revenues and expenses
