About the role
Aztech Buildings designs and builds high-quality steel structures for farms, lifestyle blocks, and commercial properties across New Zealand. Our customers are farmers, contractors, and business owners making considered capital decisions, and the quality of our early consultative sales conversations is what gets us in front of them.
We are looking for an experienced Sales Consultant to own the early pipeline, from first contact through to a fully qualified, well-prepared opportunity ready for onsite engagement. You will also independently close smaller deals, giving you full-cycle exposure and sharpening everything you do upstream.
How we sell our solutions
Our Sales Consultants (SCs) and Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) operate as a paired unit. You own discovery, qualification, and deal preparation. The RSM owns the site visit and close. When it works, RSMs walk in already understanding the customer’s project, budget, and decision criteria, because you did the work first.
On larger partnerships the RSM may lead end-to-end. In those situations, you operate as an internal champion, keeping things moving and ensuring nothing falls through the gaps.
What we’re looking for
Curious by nature. You want to understand what the customer is building, why now, and what would make or break the decision.
Sales disciplined. Every open deal has a next action. You follow up, you progress, you close what is yours.
Data-minded. You understand that what goes into the CRM shapes the decisions that come out. You log with intent, not obligation.
Technically comfortable. You pick up product knowledge quickly, sheds, spans, site requirements, and use it to ask better questions.
Commercially sharp. You qualify hard and have the confidence to disqualify when the fit is not there.
What you’ll do
- Research every lead before you call. Property, business context, project scope
- Conduct structured discovery calls on all inbound leads, same day where possible
- Qualify authority, timeline, budget, intent, and fit on every opportunity
- Give every deal a defined next action. Qualification and disqualification are both valid outcomes; open deals with no direction are not
- Brief RSMs fully before every site visit. Scope, budget, objections, recommended approach
- Support quote and proposal verification as required
- Manage a clean, progressed pipeline in HubSpot. Bloated pipelines with stagnant deals are a performance issue, not a pipeline
- Capture competitor intelligence and market insights as a matter of course
- Close deals under $100,000 independently, end-to-end
- This is a phone-led role. You open and advance conversations live, and follow up in writing, not the other way around.
Experience we’re looking for
Essential:
- Proven experience in sales or a structured customer-facing role, with confidence on the phone
- Track record of moving deals forward, not just maintaining contact
- Comfortable managing multiple active opportunities simultaneously
Desirable:
- Construction, agriculture, or rural industry familiarity
- HubSpot or similar CRM experience
- B2B or project-based sales background
