About the
role
Tenure: Remunerated appointment (three-year
term)
Location: Meetings are held online and in Aus and NZ (two full day meetings in person and two online shorter meetings)
The Community Collaboration Committee (CCC)
is seeking a Community Member with lived or living experience as a family or whānau member supporting someone who has received psychiatric care in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The CCC brings lived and living experience
perspectives into the College’s work. This includes input from
consumers/tangata whaiora and carers, family/whānau to help strengthen how the
College approaches policy, education, and engagement.
The
Community Member will share their lived expertise from a consumer and/or carer
perspective to help shape the work and priorities of the group.
Community
Members are full members of the group. While they are not expected to represent
all consumers or carers, their lived expertise is valued in informing
discussions and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and
actively contribute to scheduled meetings
- Provide
lived-experience input from a family/whānau perspective to inform
the group’s work and discussions.
- Review meeting papers
and provide written input between meetings as required
- Work
collaboratively with committee members, the Chair and RANZCP staff
- Adhere to RANZCP
policies, including confidentiality and conflict of interest requirements

What
you’ll bring
- Lived or living
experience as family or whānau supporting someone who
has received psychiatric care in Aotearoa New Zealand.
- An interest in
contributing to improvements in psychiatry training, policy, and practice
- Ability to
reflect on and communicate lived-experience insights in a way that informs
professional discussions and supports improvements to the group’s work
- Commitment to
actively participate in scheduled meetings (usually held 4 times per year)
- Alignment with
RANZCP values and commitment to confidentiality
- Residency in NZ
- Independence
from RANZCP employment (current employees are not eligible to apply)
- Previous
experience in committees, advisory roles, or relevant lived-experience
advocacy is welcome but not required
