Description

The future isn’t waiting.

It is accelerating, threat actors aren’t slowing down, technology definitely isn’t slowing down and when everything hits at once that’s when Atmos steps in.

Welcome to the specialist Digital Transformation team at Atmos, where strategy, delivery and innovation intersect. This is where complex digital initiatives are shaped, governed and delivered with precision – balancing pace, risk and compliance to enable sustainable growth across the firm.

When a major data breach hits.

When regulators demand answers.

When reputations, trust, customers and market confidence are on the line.

That’s where we operate.

We bring together law, cyber intelligence, crisis communications and digital expertise, standing

alongside our clients in their most critical moments. And we’re growing.

Your Mission

Drive the implementation and innovation of a secure, high‑impact and AI‑enabled data platform that pushes the industry forward, transforms client and staff experience, and harness leading‑edge technology with purpose and intention.

  • Shape and own the design, delivery and ongoing operation for our data strategy and platform.
  • Align direction with strategic, client, and regulatory needs.
  • Champion innovation while managing risk in a complex legal–cyber environment.
  • Lead the implementation of our data architecture, including data ingestion, modelling, governance and reporting layers.
  • Steer delivery teams to build secure, intuitive, high‑value solutions.
  • Embed security‑by‑design, privacy‑by‑design, and compliance throughout.
  • Continuously improve products to elevate workflows and client outcomes.

You’ll collaborate with:

  • Partners and Lawyers
  • Cyber Specialists and incident response teams
  • Business Services and technology partners
  • This is not data engineering and development in isolation.

This is digital delivery at the frontline of cyber and legal response.

You Might Be

You might be an experienced data platform leader or engineering manager looking to drive enterprise-scale data capability, with a track record of navigating complexity across stakeholders and systems. You bring:

  •  Confidence working across architecture, engineering, governance, and business teams
  • Strong commercial judgement, linking platform investment to business value
  • Curiosity in data, privacy, and emerging risk landscapes
  • The ability to communicate complex architectures and trade-offs with clarity
  • A disciplined, pragmatic approach to delivering reliable, scalable and high-impact platforms

Experience in regulated or data-intensive environments is beneficial, but we equally value strong leadership judgement, adaptability, and curiosity.

About the role

The Data Platform Lead is responsible for the design, delivery, and ongoing operation of the firm’s data platform, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and aligned to business needs.

This role will lead the implementation of the firm’s data architecture, including data ingestion, modelling, governance, and reporting layers, while supporting the Director – Digital, AI & Data Intelligence in delivering reliable, high-quality data products and insights more broadly.

Operating at the intersection of data, technology, and security, the Data Platform Lead will also ensure alignment with the firm’s ISO 27001 obligations, embed secure-by-design principles, and work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver and maintain a modern, governed data environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can take ownership of platform delivery while developing team capability and driving operational maturity.

Responsibilities

Data Platform Delivery & Ownership

  • Lead the design, build, and evolution of the firm’s enterprise data platform (e.g. lakehouse / warehouse architecture).
  • Own end-to-end delivery across data ingestion, transformation, modelling, and analytics layers.
  • Establish and maintain a governed, reliable “single source of truth” for reporting and insights.
  • Ensure platform performance, scalability, and reliability meet operational and business needs.
  • Deliver prioritised data initiatives aligned with the firm’s digital roadmap.
  • Ensure the platform design incorporates business continuity and change management frameworks, maintaining appropriate separation while meeting regulatory and compliance obligations.
  • Embed AI capabilities into the platform roadmap, including support for agentic workflows, data science/ML use cases, and natural language querying, aligned to anticipated business demand.

Architecture & Engineering Oversight

  • Define and maintain data architecture standards, including integration patterns, modelling approaches, and data structures.
  • Oversee development of pipelines, data models, and reporting layers across core systems (e.g. practice management, finance, CRM).
  • Ensure appropriate separation of environments, access controls, and platform resilience.
  • Guide technical decision-making across tools, platforms, and design approaches.
  • Work closely with internal engineers and external partners to implement solutions effectively.

Vendor & Delivery Management

  • Manage relationships with data platform vendors, implementation partners, and external specialists.
  • Oversee delivery outcomes, timelines, and quality across internal and external contributors.
  • Ensure vendor solutions align with architecture standards, security requirements, and commercial expectations.
  • Support vendor selection, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Manage delivery risks, dependencies, and escalation points.

Team Development & Capability

  • Lead and mentor data engineers, analysts, and platform contributors.
  • Build capability across data engineering, modelling, governance, and platform operations.
  • Establish consistent delivery practices, documentation standards, and ways of working.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and development of team members as the function grows.
  • Foster a pragmatic, delivery-focused team culture.

  • Strong experience in data platform delivery (data warehousing, lakehouse, or similar architectures).
  • Proven ability to design and implement data pipelines, models, and reporting layers.
  • Experience with data governance, quality, and enterprise reporting frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of security principles, including access control, encryption, and monitoring.
  • Experience working in environments with defined compliance or security requirements (ISO 27001 highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and external delivery partners.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical outcomes.
