About the Role
Are you great with people, but also have a knack for understanding how things work? We are looking for a practical, switched-on professional to be the key technical bridge between our customers, sales team, and production departments.
You don’t need to be a qualified engineer for this role. Instead, you will use your practical mind and communication skills to turn customer requirements into smart, specialized product solutions for stormwater and wastewater projects. Your days will involve answering customer enquiries, working out product costings, putting together basic CAD drawings, and providing accurate commercial quotes. When required, you will also get out of the office for site visits and join client presentations to offer expert technical backup to our field teams.
Full training on our product range, design calculators, and basic CAD software will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Solutions & Costings: Learn to use our engineering design calculators to configure custom water systems and work out precise costs for customer projects.
- Quotes & Order Management: Create fast, detailed product quotes and process sales orders accurately within our internal systems, keeping projects moving smoothly.
- Sales Support & Relationships: Act as the ultimate support system for our sales and customer service teams.
- Trade Events & Logistics: Help represent APD professionally at major industry trade shows and assist with coordinating freight logistics for our large, custom-sized tanks.
What You Will Bring
- The Right Mindset: You don’t need a formal engineering degree. We value practical intelligence, a strong problem-solving focus, and a background in a related trade, technical sales, customer service, or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Literacy: A good ability to read and understand technical concepts, drawings, or structural reports. If you have experience with fluid management systems or pump curves, that’s a bonus, but not a dealbreaker.
- Software & Teachable Attitude: Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and general computer systems. While basic CAD knowledge is helpful, a willingness to learn is what matters most, as we will train you on the tools we use.
- Key Attributes: A clear communicator who can translate technical details into simple terms for customers. You balance practical rules with commercial efficiency and stay organized under pressure.
