Large Animal Tech Full Time GLD

We’re looking for an experienced rural vet technician to join our busy team in a full time permanent position. This role is predominately dairy related, with tasks including but not limited to blood testing, body condition scoring, disbudding, teat sealing, and for certain jobs also data recording and reporting.

The candidate we are looking for should have at least 2 years’ experience in a vet clinic environment, be physically fit with good large animal handling skills and be able to strike up a conversation with all involved in the farming sector. You must be able to work independently and well in a team environment, be well organized, motivated, and self-driven, with good computer and communication skills.

There will be times when you need to assist at reception or in the surgery, so customer service skills and product knowledge are essential to succeed in this position.

A qualification and experience in body condition scoring would be an advantage.

We’re looking for a candidate that has:

Previous experience in a veterinary environment (at least 2 years)

Good physical fitness, with good large animal handling skills

Competent computer knowledge

Good communication with strong organisation and time management skills

The ability to work well within a team environment and independently

Ability to multi-task, remain calm under pressure and be detail oriented

Knowledge of farming practices and large animal products

A completed Rural Tech qualification would be an advantage.
