All Energy Contracting (AEC) is a leading multi-disciplinary construction contractor specialising in the renewable energy and power infrastructure sectors. AEC services span across a portfolio of major projects in utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage (BESS), high voltage connections, substations and distribution networks. Our core services comprise civil works, trenching, cable installation, electrical and mechanical installations, terminations, testing, commissioning (DC, LV, HV), operations support and maintenance expertise.

Our New Zealand operations are headquartered in Rolleston, Canterbury, and we are a dynamic growing business with projects across New Zealand and Australia.

AEC New Zealand is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support the commercial performance and success of our projects across New Zealand. Working closely with Project Managers, operational teams, and key stakeholders, this role is responsible for delivering accurate forecasting, cost control, commercial reporting, and financial insights across multiple projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring strong commercial governance, supporting informed decision-making, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving positive commercial outcomes within a fast-paced construction and renewable energy environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain accurate project cost forecasts, budgets, and accruals Monitor project cost performance and analyse variances against budget and forecast
  • Clearly articulate monthly cost variances, including root causes and cost drivers
  • Prepare detailedcommercial and cost reports for project teams and leadership
  • Identification and management of project risks and opportunities
  • Collaborate with operational and delivery teams to provide commercial support across contracts and projects
  • Drive continuous improvement in commercial systems and processes
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on cost control processes and best practice

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar
  • Minimum 2 years ‘experience in cost control or commercial analysis, ideally within a project-based environment
  • Proven experience working in project cost control, forecasting, and accruals
  • Extensive experience in a similar Cost Controller role within a large corporate environment
  • Experience within the energy, utilities, construction, or infrastructure industry highly
  • regarded
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to interpret contracts and understand commercial impacts
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Location: This role is based in Rolleston; however, AEC operates projects across New Zealand. you may be required to travel and work from project sites as business and operational requirements dictate.
