Aboriginality is a requirement of these positions, as identified under Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA)
ABOUT US:
Yorgum was established in 1991 by a
group of Aboriginal women, some of whom worked in women’s refuges, who
were concerned about the lack of
appropriate counselling support for Aboriginal people experiencing spiritual,
emotional and psychological pain. They founded a service with a ‘healing’
approach rather than an ongoing, crisis-driven ‘patch-up’ approach.
Yorgum offers all Aboriginal people and
their families autonomous, community-based healing services that are culturally
secure, trauma-informed and work within an Aboriginal Family Worldview.
The Role:
Yorgum Healing
Services (Yorgum) in partnership with Hope Community Services operate the
Armadale Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) Hub – Waullo Dawn and Koolark,

- Women’s Legal Service WA
- Aboriginal Legal Services of WA

- Ruah Community Services.
The hub will
provide victim-survivors with access to services and supports in a single,
accessible location, as well as providing off-site services for perpetrators
and young people. The service model will see the creation of a multicultural
and multidisciplinary team, while adopting a trauma informed, culturally
competent approach: while the various hub team members will be employed by one
of the nine service partners, they will work within the cohesive FDV Hub team
culture under the leadership of the FDV Manager, to provide support to women
and children who are experiencing family violence.
This position will be responsible for the delivery
of culturally safe services for families who are accessing the FDV Hub in
