Wunan Health & Well-Being Centre is a multidisciplinary, accredited healthcare provider delivering high-quality services throughout the East Kimberley. Conveniently located in a modern, purpose-built facility in the heart of Kununurra, Wunan Health is proudly owned and operated by Wunan Foundation, an East Kimberley Aboriginal development organisation.

As a rapidly expanding organisation, Wunan Health provides a range of services including:

  • General Practice (GP) Clinic
  • Allied Health Services
  • headspace Kununurra
  • Kununurra Withdrawal and Intervention Centre (KWIC)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Receptionist to join our administration team in a full-time capacity. This is a pivotal frontline role supporting our health services, with opportunities to work across either the GP/Allied Health Clinic or headspace Kununurra.

About the Role

We are looking for someone who demonstrates professionalism, discretion and exceptional customer service. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be highly organised, and have the ability to manage competing priorities while working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Flexibility to provide administrative support across Wunan Health services is essential.

Previous experience in an administrative or medical reception role is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming and professional first point of contact for patients and visitors.
  • Answer telephone enquiries courteously and efficiently.
  • Receive and communicate messages verbally, electronically and in writing.
  • Liaise compassionately with patients, families and carers.
  • Communicate effectively with GPs, allied health professionals and other stakeholders.
  • Schedule appointments using a computerised booking system.
  • Scan, file and manage electronic documentation.
  • Process banking, mail and EFTPOS transactions.
  • Utilise Microsoft Office and practice management software, including Best Practice (BP).
  • Work collaboratively within the administration team while independently managing allocated tasks.

About You

You will have:

  • Previous administration or medical reception experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • A high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • The ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong computer skills and confidence using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Best Practice (BP) software (desirable).
