Winnunga is seeking a passionate and motivated Social Health Worker to lead and support our No More Boondah tobacco cessation program. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities to reduce the harms of smoking and vaping, improve health outcomes, and strengthen community wellbeing.

About the Role:

  • Facilitate Winnunga’s No More Boondah quit smoking group.
  • Provide one-on-one support and brief interventions for clients wanting to quit smoking or vaping.
  • Deliver health promotion and education activities across the community.
  • Work with families, schools, workplaces and community groups.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting through Communicare and program reporting systems.
  • Support tobacco cessation initiatives across antenatal, youth, men’s health, women’s health and chronic disease programs.

About You:

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of tobacco cessation, health promotion or wellbeing programs (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and administration skills.
  • Commitment to culturally safe and community-led service delivery.
