The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a not-for-profit organisation providing world class aeromedical, search and rescue services to those in need 24/7. About the position

We are currently seeking an experienced Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (B1.3/B2) to join our highly skilled team in a touring capacity. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and operating within a CASR approved Part 145 organisation, this role will be required to carry out maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification, assembly and/or testing on the aircraft fleet in a safe and efficient manner and to a high standard.  

This position will work a 7:7 roster pattern and will tour regularly across all bases including Broadmeadow, Belmont, Tamworth and Lismore. Ideally, the successful candidate will reside within one hour from an operational base to support operational readiness and response requirements. 

Note – The Service welcomes applications from candidates located in other regions, provided they reside within one hours of a commercial airport and are able to meet roster and operational travel requirements.  

Key Responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Perform maintenance activities including major aircraft inspections, repairs and overhauls in accordance with approved company, manufacturer and airworthiness authority manuals. 
  • Conduct hybrid trouble shooting, address recurrent technical problems and ensure all maintenance and defect rectification is carried out to the relevant design and quality standards. 
  • Complete documentation in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with company requirements. 
  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders through a commitment to the Service’s values of Compassion, Unity, Accountability and Integrity. 
  • Demonstrate and promote a positive and proactive attitude toward safety, quality and environmental standards always. 

 About you 

To be considered for this role, you will have: 

  • Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) Qualification:
  • CASA Part 66 Dual-rated Category B1.3/B2 Licence with AW139 Type Rating – Preferred
  • CASA Part 66 Category B1.3 Licence (No Exclusions) with AW139 Type Rating – Acceptable 
  • CASA Part 66 Category C Licence with AW139 Type Rating – Not essential

  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • IT literate with the ability to effectively utilise Aviation, Safety and MS Office Software  
  • Strong focus on safety and quality with attention to detail
  • Behaviour, culture, and attitude that aligns with Company values
  • Proven experience working in an EMS / SAR environment will be highly regarded
