We are currently seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our Brisbane team and play a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of mining and resources projects.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, thrives in a consultancy environment, and is eager to contribute across the full project lifecycle. As a Control Systems Engineer at Wave, you will apply your expertise from concept through to commissioning, supporting the design, development, and delivery of control system solutions for mining and heavy industrial projects. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors, you will deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose outcomes that are technically robust, safe, and commercially practical.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and implement electrical and control system solutions for brownfield and greenfield projects
- Prepare high-quality detailed design deliverables, including specifications, functional descriptions, schematics, and calculations
- Optimise control philosophies, automation strategies, and system performance to deliver practical engineering solutions
- Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients to ensure successful project delivery
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, site requirements, and safety obligations
- Support project delivery activities including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand operational needs and deliver tailored engineering outcomes
About You
You are a technically capable and solutions-focused engineer with experience delivering control systems projects in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial environments. You enjoy working across a variety of projects, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and take pride in delivering quality work.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- 5-10 years proven experience as a Control Systems Engineer, ideally within mining, minerals processing, and resources sector
- Strong experience across PLC, SCADA, and automation platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Citect, and PlantPAx
- Experience in electrical control systems design and integration across multiple project phases
- Consultancy or EPCM experience will be highly regarded
- RPEQ (Electrical) is desirable, with support available for engineers pursuing registration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Effective communication skills and a strong commitment to technical quality, safety, and client service
