Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer / Technical Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer / Technical Lead to join our dynamic team in the banking sector. This contract role, based in Sydney, New South Wales, offers an exciting opportunity to lead the design and implementation of Snowflake solutions that enhance our data management capabilities. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and ensuring the reliability of our data platforms, contributing significantly to our strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

·                Lead the technical establishment and operationalisation of the Snowflake platform.

• Design Snowflake account, environment, and multi-tier architecture.
• Configure and administer virtual warehouses, compute scaling, and workload management.
• Implement RBAC, authentication, security policies, and access controls.
• Establish networking, connectivity, monitoring, auditing, and governance frameworks.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Drive infrastructure automation using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimise platform performance, reliability, and cost.
• Provide technical leadership, engineering standards, and platform best practices while remaining hands-on.

Mandatory Skills

·                Extensive hands-on experience implementing and operating Snowflake platforms from inception.

• Deep expertise in Snowflake administration, security, and platform architecture.
• Strong knowledge of RBAC, SSO, authentication, data governance, and auditing.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development, and release automation.
• AWS cloud platform experience.
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance optimisation capabilities.
• Experience working in large regulated enterprise environments.
