The Role

This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being at the centre of daily operations.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant allocation of our transport fleet while ensuring exceptional customer service and operational performance.

You’ll work closely with drivers, customers, operations teams and management to coordinate daily runs, monitor fleet activity, manage compliance obligations and support continuous improvement across the business.

What you’ll be doing

As the Transport Allocator, you’ll be the operational heartbeat of our transport team, ensuring our fleet, drivers and customers stay connected and moving safely, efficiently and compliantly every day. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, requiring strong decision-making, problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Coordinate and allocate daily transport runs to maximise fleet utilisation and customer service outcomes.
  • Monitor fleet movements and respond quickly to operational changes, delays and service issues.
  • Support and communicate with drivers throughout the day, providing guidance and resolving operational challenges.
  • Manage driver rosters, leave planning and daily workforce coverage.
  • Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), HVNL, fatigue management and load restraint requirements.
  • Maintain accurate transport, compliance, training and fleet records.
  • Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders to coordinate service requirements and resolve enquiries.
  • Assist with fleet maintenance scheduling and asset management activities.
  • Investigate and report on service exceptions, missed collections and operational performance.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by promoting compliance, accountability and continuous improvement.

About You

You will bring:

  • Experience in transport allocation, dispatch or fleet coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, load restraint and fatigue management requirements.
  • Experience within transport, waste, recycling, scrap metal or related industries.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with drivers, customers and stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Sound computer skills, including fleet management systems, GPS platforms and Microsoft Office.

Essential Requirements:

  • Current Australian HR Driver’s Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in a transport allocation or dispatch role.
  • Strong understanding of HVNL and CoR obligations.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
