Waminda is seeking a passionate and dedicate Aboriginal Health Practitioner (AHP) to join our Minga Gudjaga & Birthing on Country (BoC) program. This role provides an opportunity to work within a culturally safe, holistic and woman-centred model of care that supports Aboriginal women and families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal journey.

As a BoC AHP, you will deliver primary health care, health education, advocacy and care coordination that strengthens the social, emotional, cultural and physical wellbeing of Aboriginal women, babies and families.

About the Role

Working across Waminda’s services and outreach locations throughout the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region, you will:

• Provide culturally safe, holistic and client-centred primary health care
• Conduct health assessments, observations, triage and care planning
• Deliver health education and preventative health initiatives
• Support women and families to navigate health services and access appropriate care
• Work collaboratively with midwives, nurses, GPs, allied health professionals and community stakeholders
• Participate in community engagement and health promotion activities.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander woman (An applicant’s gender and race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by section 14(d) and 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977of (NSW))
• Holds current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner and maintains relevant professional requirements
• Has experience delivering primary health care in community or clinical settings
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culturally safe practice
• Has excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care
• Is committed to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal women, children and families.

Essential Requirements

• Current Aboriginal Health Practitioner registration with AHPRA
• Current NSW/ACT Driver Licence
• National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check
• Current immunisation compliance.
