Village Early Learning Wellard is excited to be opening a brand-new, purpose-built early learning centre, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic Part-Time Centre Cook to join our vibrant new team.
This is a unique opportunity to establish yourself in a stunning new centre featuring a fully equipped, brand-new, purpose-built kitchen with modern facilities, and a supportive team environment. You’ll play an integral role in creating healthy eating habits and positive mealtime experiences for children from day one.
As our Centre Cook, you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your creativity through seasonal menu planning, preparing fresh, nutritious meals that support children’s growth, development, and wellbeing. You’ll cater for a variety of dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences while working in a professional kitchen designed to help you do your best work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and serve fresh, nutritious meals that delight young taste buds and support healthy, growing bodies across the centre
- Designing seasonal menus that follow nutritional guidelines and accommodate allergies, cultural needs, and dietary restrictions
- Managing food orders, minimising waste, and working within budget
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and inviting kitchen that complies with all food safety regulations
- Keeping up-to-date records, including allergen and food safety documentation
- Collaborating with a fun, professional team who value creativity, growth, and care, experienced in managing, reviewing, and updating Food Safety Plans to ensure full compliance and operational excellence
Requirements:
- Certificate III in Cookery or similar qualifications
- Food Handling & Food Supervisor Certificates – your key to safe, delicious meals!
- Experience as a Childcare Cook – bring your culinary magic to our little foodies!
- Current Working with Children Check – ensuring a safe environment!
- First Aid and CPR certificates, including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training – prioritising health and safety!
- Menu planning, budgeting and stock control experience – showcase your organisational skills
- Knowledge of dietary and allergy-safe requirements – ensuring every child can safely enjoy their meals!
- Must be available Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 1.30pm
- Great communication skills with an organised approach to keeping things running smoothly.
