As we pivot strategically into sovereign AI capabilities and expand into the commercial and critical infrastructure sectors, we are seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our Corporate team.
In this role, you will be instrumental in managing day-to-day transactional accounting, maintaining system integrity, and supporting month-end closing processes. Working closely with our Financial Controller and CFO, you will play a critical role in scaling our operations by ensuring financial data remains accurate, complete, and reliable across all systems.
As such, this is a rare remote opportunity to gain access to a role that covers the end to end spectrum of the financial accounting function.
You will be responsible for:
- Finance system maintenance: Review, validate, and reconcile system inputs/outputs to resolve data discrepancies and maintain financial data integrity across all reports.
- Transactional accounting & payments: Execute daily bank reconciliations, manage PO compliance, process invoices/payments via Xero, CBA, and Airwallex under trading terms, and prepare weekly draft EFT payment batches.
- Payroll & statutory compliance: Support monthly payroll processing, track staff leave, reconcile payroll clearing and superannuation accounts, and prepare GST and PAYG for BAS submissions.
- Month-end close & general ledger: Close the GL to schedule, post journals (accruals, prepayments, capitalization, amortization, depreciation), maintain the fixed asset register, and complete all balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Reporting & analytical support: Generate regular and ad-hoc financial reports, address communication exceptions promptly with suppliers and leadership, and assist the CFO/FC with board reporting and strategic projects.
To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- CPA qualified (preferred)
- 5 year + experience working with Australian companies, with sound technical knowledge in relation to GST and payroll obligations
- 3 years + experience with Xero (all functions incl. processing payroll and reporting functions)
- 5 years + managing end-to-end accounting processes
- G-Suite / MS Office intermediate experience
- Excellent attention to detail
- Resilient/self-starter/able to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote working environment
