Description

Are you passionate about surfing, great with people and ready to deliver an exceptional guest experience in the line-up?

We are looking for Surf Guides to join our team at URBNSURF Sydney in Sydney Olympic Park.

What is a Surf Guide at URBNSURF?

At URBNSURF, Surf Guides are the experienced surfers everyone wants in the lineup. They lead by example, share their knowledge, encourage progression, and help every guest get the most out of their session. They bring the stoke, create an energetic atmosphere, and confidently keep sessions running smoothly and safely.

Because Surf Guides spend the most time with our guests, they play a vital role in delivering an unforgettable experience—balancing world-class safety with genuine enthusiasm for surfing.

To nail this balancing act in the world’s most democratic lineup, you’ll need to ensure every surfer remains safe while, between every set, fostering the stoke by chatting with guests, offering encouragement, sharing tips, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. You’ll need to stay fully present and master the sweet spot between delivering epic surf sessions and maintaining safety at all times.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for people who have:

  • Competent and confident surfing skills, regardless of age or gender.
  • A friendly, upbeat attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent time management skills.
  • The confidence to lead a group of surfers and communicate clearly when direction or intervention is required.
  • A mature, self-confident, caring, and professional approach to surfing.
  • Confidence in handling challenging situations and making quick decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills to connect with both guests and teammates.
  • The ability to confidently ride, describe, and clearly differentiate every public wave setting.
  • A passion for working outdoors in all conditions—rain, shine, or winter chill.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and confidently follow emergency response procedures in a professional manner.
  • Flexible availability to work 1–3 shifts per week, on average.

Although the role may sound easy, Surf Guiding is one of the hardest roles to master. It’s not just about surfing—you are there to lead the lineup, support guests, maintain safety, and keep the vibe high for everyone in the water.

So, are you up for the challenge?
