Description

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced personal injury/insurance lawyer to join our Maritime & Transport team in our Cairns office.

Working closely with the Brisbane based Maritime & Transport Partners, you will provide high level advice and representation regarding personal injury and other insurance claims.

About the Role

Thynne & Macartney has offices in Brisbane, Toowoomba and Cairns. This role is based in our Cairns office, working alongside a Maritime & Transport Associate and serving as an integral part of our broader team.

The successful candidate will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, flexibility and responsibility, managing matters independently while remaining well supported through regular collaboration and mentoring. For the right candidate, there is the opportunity to lead the Cairns office.

Key Tasks

Under the guidance of the Partners, you will:

  • Primarily conduct defendant personal injury claims, in the marine and transport sectors.
  • Conduct other insurance and disputes and litigation matters.
  • Have the opportunity to be involved in transport and marine-related commercial matters.

Qualifications and Experience

The right candidate for this role will:

  • Hold a current Queensland practising certificate.
  • Have solid (preferably defendant) personal injury experience.
  • Not be required to have experience in the marine and transport sectors (though it would be an advantage).

Skills

  • Critical thinking and strong research and analytical skills to undertake comprehensive legal analysis and research.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive working and client relationships at all levels.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage several tasks concurrently with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously with limited supervision.
  • Committed to maintaining confidentiality and delivering excellence in client service.
