Summary:

The Dentist is responsible for providing comprehensive oral health care services to patients, including preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dental care. They play a critical role in promoting good oral health hygiene practices, diagnosing and managing dental diseases and conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Examine patients’ teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues.
  • Diagnose dental conditions and oral health problems, analysing findings and recommending treatment options.
  • Perform preventive services like cleaning, fluoride treatments and sealants.
  • Restore teeth affected by decay, trauma or other factors by filling cavities, repairing chips or cracks and performing root canals.
  • Extraction of teeth.
  • Fitting crowns, bridges, and dentures.
  • Offer cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening.
  • Patient education about diet, oral hygiene, and other preventive dental care practices.
  • Manage and coordinate patient care with other healthcare professionals such as orthodontists and oral surgeons.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
  • State license to practice dentistry.
  • Strong knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and create a positive patient experience.
  • Attention to detail and strong manual dexterity.
  • 3 plus years’ experience practicing dentistry is preferred.
